PROGRAM:
Roberta Hayashi and Kara Arguello, attorneys in Berliner Cohen’s employment law practice, provide an overview of recent developments in federal and state case law and legislation affecting employers in the State of California.  Depending upon Congressional action by the end of 2009, the program will include an overview of the new employer mandates under the Federal health care reform legislation.

Topics include:

  • Recent opinions from the California Labor Commissioner relating to restructuring your workforce
  • New legislation on alternative workweeks, paycheck withholdings and Cal-COBRA
  • Individual liability for managers and supervisors with respect to unpaid wages
  • Expansion of leave and benefits laws, particularly for military families
  • Developments in discrimination claims under state and Federal laws
  • Workplace privacy
