Berliner Cohen Attorney Graduate of Chamber “Community Leadership 2010”

The Silicon Valley/San Jose Chamber of Commerce recently graduated its 20thconsecutive Community Leadership Class. Marco Campagna, Berliner Cohen Attorney, was part of the 2010 class who completed the ten-month program designed to spread awareness and form bonds between organizations resulting in a stronger community.
Last summer, 35 class members began meeting once a month to gain knowledge and delve into San Jose’s culture to gain a better, in depth, understanding of what the city has to offer. During the program’s first three months, full days were spent learning from insiders at City Hall, the San Jose Police Department and Innvision. From there, the class was split into groups and was given the responsibility to plan separate events for the rest of the class within four areas: media, education, the arts, and healthcare.
Mr. Campagna’s health care group worked with Valley Medical Center to learn about funding realities and the difficulties of running a hospital that is the leading center for traumatic injuries and a general care provider for many low-income patients from the community.
What was the most important part of this experience to Mr. Campagna? He responded, “Most of it was about the people I met. Everyone was committed to making sure that not only their own (non-profit) organizations were successful, but that other organizations were on the right track so that businesses in San Jose could become successful and provide steady revenue. This revenue could then be used to provide further funding for the community.”
A graduate of the University of Santa Clara University School of Law, Mr. Campagna represents owners, developers, contractors, and subcontractors on a wide variety of construction-related issues, as well as individuals and businesses in a variety of matters, including employment issues and disputes, contract claims, real estate matters, and closely held and family-owned business disputes.
