Berliner Cohen Attorney Speaks at SCCBA Sexual Harassment Mock Trial Seminar

Roberta S. Hayashi will speak at the Santa Clara County Bar Association’s “Employment Law Mock Trial: Getting Behind Closed Doors” seminar Friday, May 6, 2011, at the SCCBA’s Seminar and Conference Center, 31 North Second Street, 4th Floor, San Jose.  The program is from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

This program was inspired by a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit tried to a jury verdict in Santa Clara County Superior Court in 2009 before the Honorable John Herlihy (ret.), who will preside over the mock trial.  Ms. Hayashi joins three other trial counsel who will argue an in limine motion, present opening and closing arguments, and conduct direct and cross examinations.  Participants will also observe jury deliberations and lessons learned from a jury room.

Ms. Hayashi, Employment group head at Berliner Cohen, has over twenty-five years experience representing and advising Silicon Valley employers in employment and business litigation. She has trial experience in wrongful termination, discrimination, and misappropriation of trade secrets and proprietary information actions in both state and federal court. In June 2003, she was named one of the “Top 50 Women Litigators” in California by The Daily Journal. In 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, Ms. Hayashi was recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and in the Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel edition in the area of Employment Litigation Defense.
