California employers are in the midst of changes required by landmark decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court, health care reform legislation and increased regulatory activity in every aspect of the workplace from hiring to social media policies. Please join Berliner Cohen’s employment law attorneys and the Leavitt Group for a discussion of new statutory, regulatory and case law developments and the way your business will be affected in 2014 and beyond.
- Recent court decisions and the impact on employers
- Preview of anticipated legislative and regulatory changes
- Increased audits and enforcement of worker classification requirements (independent contractors, interns)
- Affordable Care Act – even though the federal government has delayed the employer mandate and accompanying insurer reporting requirements by one year, employers have added obligations for 2014.
