Ms. Modarresi’s practice is concentrated on representing businesses and management in all facets of Labor and Employment Law. This includes defense in litigation involving PAGA and wage-and-hour (both individual and collective actions), discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistle-blowing, and disability and other leave-related issues; day-to-day counseling and in-house training on issues from hiring to firing; and drafting and reviewing employment agreements, termination and severance agreements, confidentiality and non-competes, and employment policies and handbooks. She represents employers in both state and federal courts, as well as before state and federal agencies. She prides herself in working with her clients to develop appropriate strategies to avoid litigation and minimize potential exposure in the area of employee relations.
Ms. Modarresi is a former adjunct clinical professor of the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she taught a course in the school’s Employment Law Clinic. She is called upon regularly as a speaker for conferences, seminars, and trainings addressing employment law issues and developments. Each year since 2014 to the present, Ms. Modarresi has been selected to the Northern California Super Lawyers Rising Star list – a recognition given to no more than 2.5 percent of California attorneys. She also has been recognized in San Francisco Magazine as a Top Woman Attorney in Northern California Rising Stars. During law school, she was a Judicial Extern for Senior United States District Judge Susan Illston.
Beyond her regular legal practice, Ms. Modarresi serves as a member of the Board of Directors of JW House, a non-profit organization that helps keeps families together during times of medical crisis.
