Jerold Reiton represents a variety of clients, individuals, organizations and corporations in business matters ranging from formation, merger, reorganization, acquisition and sale transactions, as well as the negotiation and preparation of business and technology related agreements. He also handles tax controversy related matters before the Tax Court, Bankruptcy Court, United States District Court, and California State Superior Court, and has appeared before the Supreme Court of California. Jerry has handled and supervised tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service, Franchise Tax Board, Employment Development Department, and State Board of Equalization. He served as the firm's managing partner from 2011 - 2013.

In 2005-2006 and from 2008 through 2016, Jerry Reiton was recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer in the area of Tax.

Representative Cases

  • Lennane v. Franchise Tax Board, 9 Cal. 4th 263 (1994) Appeared before the Supreme Court of California and argued the merits of the matter presented as an Amici Curiae on behalf of the Plaintiffs and Respondents; instrumental in achieving a taxpayer favorable decision resulting in savings to client involved in a substantially similar controversy of more than two million dollars; Franchise Tax Board estimated that this decision had state wide tax ramifications of more than three hundred million dollars in revenue
  • Currently focuses practice on tax controversies before the federal and state taxing authorities, including offers in compromise appeals, protests and collections, mergers and acquisitions, corporate related transactions and agreements
