Modesto

Our Modesto office is actively recruiting for an Associate Attorney to work in our business and probate litigation practice. We will consider applicants with experience ranging from new admittees to 5 years of experience, with ties to the Modesto/Stanislaus/San Joaquin County area, and who want to live and work there. 

Candidates should possess a strong academic background, a proven track record of strong performance and measurable results, and exceptional communication, analytical, and writing skills. The ability to be a creative thinker and problem solver and to work independently and with a team is also required. Candidates must have a J.D. from an accredited law school and current good standing with the California State Bar.

The salary range for this position in our Modesto office is $107,500 to $150,000. The successful candidate's salary for this position is reasonably expected to be set within this range; however, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate's qualifications, and experience.

Litigation Associate Attorney, Trust & Estate Litigation

San Jose

The Litigation department at Berliner Cohen is actively recruiting for an Associate Attorney with 4 to 7 years of experience in trust & estate litigation. Additional experience in business, commercial, and real estate is preferred.

Candidates should possess a strong academic background, a proven track record of strong performance and measurable results with exceptional communication, analytical, and writing skills. Litigation Associate Attorney, Employment Law Department

The Employment Law department at Berliner Cohen is actively recruiting for an Associate Attorney with 2+ years of litigation experience for our San Jose office.

The ideal applicant will have experience preparing responsive pleadings, engaging in motion practice, responding to discovery or administrative charges as well as counseling clients - whether it be for employment law or some other area of law. In addition, they should have experience with case management, propounding and responding to discovery, depositions and preparing cases for trial. Berliner Cohen is seeking an experienced mid-level employment law attorney with 5+ years of experience to join the growing Employment Law practice in San Jose.

Real Estate Associate

San Jose

Berliner Cohen LLP, a mid-sized firm based in San Jose, has an immediate opening for a mid-level Associate Attorney in its transactional real estate group. The successful candidate will have 3 to 7 years of experience in sophisticated transactional real estate matters, including demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating contracts in the areas of property acquisition/disposition, leasing, and financing. Excellent academic credentials and analytical, writing, and communication skills are required.

Administrative

Litigation Paralegal

San Jose

Berliner Cohen, LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to work alongside a team of diverse professionals while assisting attorneys in handling all aspects of litigation. The qualified candidate will assist attorneys in managing evidence, answering interrogatories and preparing motions, complaints, briefs, and other legal documents; interviewing clients and witnesses for hearing, deposition and trial and perform all types of legal support work assigned as permitted by the rules of the California State Bar.

Candidates should possess a strong academic background, a proven track record of strong performance and measurable results, with exceptional communication, analytical, and writing skills. The ability to be a creative thinker and problem solver and to work independently and with a team is also required.

Education Requirements:  Must possess a Paralegal certificate or a degree in paralegal studies.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and a Paralegal certificate from American Bar Association (ABA) approved program.

Experience Requirements: Minimum of five years' experience working as a paralegal in a civil litigation law firm. Must have experience in ESI Discovery.

Skills: Ability to work independently, see tasks through fruition, excellent attention to detail, and familiarity with electronic discovery platforms.

The Litigation Paralegal’s hourly pay range is expected to be between $52.00 to $60.00. The successful candidate for this position is reasonably expected to be set within this range; however, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Litigation Secretary

San Jose

Berliner Cohen LLP, a mid-sized law firm in San Jose, has an immediate opening for a highly skilled Litigation Secretary with at least 5 years of stable employment experience supporting multiple litigation attorneys.

The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of MS Word to create and edit correspondence, briefs, pleadings, TOA's, TOC's, and other legal documents. Must be proficient at e-filing and know Federal and State court rules.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining attorney calendars, scheduling meetings and depositions, expense reports, check requests, and coordinating the maintenance of client files. Familiarity with utilizing a document management system such as NetDocs is helpful. Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment are imperative.
