Mr. Rebboah is a Partner in Berliner Cohen’s Estate Planning Group. Mr. Rebboah counsels individuals and families on a variety of estate planning and wealth transfer matters ranging from the formation of living trusts to sophisticated, multi-generational transfers of wealth.

Mr. Rebboah regularly forms limited liability companies (LLCs) and/or partnerships as a vehicle to hold and transfer intrafamily wealth. Mr. Rebboah also forms private foundations and creates other charitable vehicles, such as charitable lead trusts (CLTs) and charitable remainder trusts (CRTs), that further clients’ legacy planning goals.

Mr. Rebboah also advises clients on trust and probate administration matters, particularly corporate fiduciaries.

In 2022 and 2023, Mr. Rebboah was recognized by Thomson Reuters in its Super Lawyers publication as a “Rising Star” – a recognition given to no more than 2.5 percent of California attorneys.

Representative Matters

In addition to his experience working with a wide variety of client’s on the formation of living trusts, LLCs and partnerships, and charitable trusts, some of Mr. Rebboah’s other representative matters include:

  • Sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts (IDGTs) to transfer, in aggregate, over $150 million of assets in multi-generational family planning.
  • Formation of grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs) with assets, in aggregate, of over $50 million of assets.
  • Served as California counsel on formation of a private trust company in other jurisdiction.
  • Represented institutional trustee in estate administration where the trust was a majority shareholder in a prominent Bay Area business.
  • Advised a charitable organization on the merger of two endowments.
  • Served as California counsel in the decanting of California irrevocable trusts to other jurisdictions.

Personal

Mr. Rebboah is a Bay Area native and graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory. He is a dedicated advocate of Catholic education. He, his wife, son, and daughter reside in San Jose, California.
