Areas of Focus:

Michael Cheng has been practicing law since 2006. He started his legal career as a litigator, moved to Taiwan for a 5 year stint where he did transactional and corporate work for companies such as Costco, ThyssenKrupp, Gilead Sciences, and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, and returned to California in 2015 where he finds himself in the courtroom again as an advocate for his individual and corporate clients. Michael considers himself a general practitioner, but if pressed to identify a “specialty” it would be California Civil Procedure and Evidence (in layman’s terms, the steps and manner to win at trial or in arbitration). Most of Michael’s cases involve breach of contract claims, real estate disputes, and partnership disagreements. In Michael you will find an aggressive, yet pragmatic, advocate and counselor who prides himself in his ability to communicate.

In Michael’s free time, he is typically either with his wife and three kids, at the gym, or pretending to be into boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) even though he hasn’t been in a ring or on the mat in almost a decade. When his kids finally go to sleep, Michael enjoys reading books and posting his weekly summaries / reviews on Facebook (www.facebook.com/michaeljcheng).

If you are in need of legal assistance, feel free to send Michael an email at michael.cheng@berliner.com to schedule a phone call, Zoom, or in-person meeting.
