Berliner Cohen Attorney Tyler Shewey Recognized as BCAC Citizen of the Year

Berliner Cohen LLP is pleased to announce that Tyler Shewey, distinguished tax and business attorney, has been recognized as the 2015 Citizen of the Year by the Berryessa Citizens Advisory Council (BCAC) in San Jose.  Mr. Shewey, who is a San Jose native, graduated from Piedmont Hills High School. He went on to study at UCLA, University of Pennsylvania Law School and New York University School of Law. He has served on the board of the Berryessa Citizens Advisory Council for more than 10 years during which time, as a member of the BCAC Ad Hoc Community Outreach Committee, he worked to persuade the California Citizens Redistricting Commission to draw boundaries that consolidated the Berryessa community representation. Previously, Mr. Shewey interned for Senator Diane Feinstein, volunteered as a coach for the Special Olympics and taught English to students in China and Turkey.

Since 2010, Mr. Shewey has served the legal needs of the business community with Berliner Cohen, LLP in downtown San Jose.  His tax practice includes tax transactions and tax controversy before the IRS and U.S. Tax Court, California FTB, California State BOE, and EDD.  He has represented many clients in offshore asset reporting compliance, including FBAR filing.  Mr. Shewey advises companies and investors on formation, venture capital financing, merger, and general corporate matters.  His business clients range from small startups to established technology companies.
