Berliner Cohen Elects Three New Partners

Berliner Cohen is pleased to announce that Kimberly Flores, Tyler Shewy, and Dawn Sweatt were elected as new equity partners effective January 1, 2018. Ms. Sweatt and Mr. Shewey are based in San Jose, while Ms. Flores is based in Merced.

Ms. Flores represents various individuals and businesses in general civil litigation matters. She has a broad range of litigation experience, including real estate disputes, business and contractual disputes, large-scale construction defect matters, personal injury and property damage claims, landlord-tenant disputes, trust and estate litigation, public entity and municipal law matters, elder abuse claims, conservatorships, and guardianships. Ms. Flores received her J.D. from Humphreys School of Law and B.S. from California State University, Stanislaus.

Mr. Shewey counsel individuals and business entities on a wide range of tax and business matters. Mr. Shewey's tax practice includes both tax transactions and tax controversy before the Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Tax Court, Franchise Tax Board, California State Board of Equalization, and Employment Development Department.  He has represented many clients in offshore asset reporting compliance, including FBAR filing. Mr. Shewey received his LL.M from New York University School of Law, J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School, and B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles.

Ms. Sweatt is in the business litigation group and has had several jury and bench trial successes involving complex business transactions, trade secrets, real estate and related matters. Ms. Sweatt received her J.D. from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and B.A. from California State University, Chico.
