Berliner Cohen is pleased to announce that Jerold A. Reiton (Jerry) has become the Firm’s new Managing Partner, effective January 1, 2011.
He succeeds James Cashman, who served as Managing Partner from 2008 through 2010. Reiton is joined on the 2011 Executive Committee by Berliner Partners Cashman, Joe Dworak, Nancy Johnson, Jeff Kaufman, Mark Makiewicz, and Executive Director Joe Fasulo.
Reiton has practiced in the corporate and tax department at Berliner Cohen for the past 25 years. He represents individuals, organizations and corporations in business matters ranging from formation, merger, reorganization, acquisition and sale transactions. He frequently handles tax controversy related matters before the Tax Court, Bankruptcy Court, United States District Court, and California State Superior Court, and has appeared before the Supreme Court of California, as well as the Internal Revenue Service, Franchise Tax Board, Employment Development Department, and the State Board of Equalization.
