Berliner Cohen is pleased to announce that Dawn Sweatt, distinguished litigation attorney, has been selected by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal as one of the 2015 Women of Influence in Silicon Valley. The Journal’s Women of Influence special supplement on April 3 features her along with 99 other outstanding Silicon Valley women. They will be honored at the Journal’s Awards Dinner at The Fairmont San Jose on May 7, 2015.
Ms. Sweatt's legal career path began with several internships, including the State Attorney General’s office, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Governor’s Office of Legal Affairs. While at the District Attorney’s Office she was the only intern selected to conduct trials, conducting six jury trials during her internship. She was then recruited by one of law professors to become a litigation associate in his law firm Hansen, Culhane, Kohls, Jones & Sommer where she stayed until she met her future husband who was born and raised in San Jose, moving her here to practice in Silicon Valley.
At Berliner Cohen, Ms. Sweatt has been recognized as a Rising Star by Northern California Super Lawyers from 2011 and 2014. She serves on the alumni association board of directors for her alma mater, the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. She is involved with San Jose Sports Authority’s REACH Youth Scholarship and, in the past, organized Berliner Cohen’s Adopt-A-Family’s holiday program. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a software consultant, business development manager, and legal intern. Ms. Sweatt and her husband have two young sons, who occupy most of her time outside of work.
